• Marketing for study and doctoral training programmes of Freie Universität Berlin
• Publicising new research projects (Collaborative Research Centres, clusters etc.) and recent research results from Freie Universität Berlin (e.g. through websites, newsletters or mailing lists)
• Assistance for researchers based at Freie Universität Berlin to organise conferences and other events abroad
• Providing information about academic and research developments in the region (e.g. information about new scholarship or research programmes)
• Organisation of and support for international alumni activities

Universität zu Köln

University of Cologne Regional Office Egypt, Cairo

Tasks:
In line with the University of Cologne’s internationalisation strategy and with the aim to contribute to the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDG17 “Partnerships for the Goals”, the University of Cologne expanded its presence to the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) with the inauguration of its liaison office in Cairo, Egypt. Starting from June 2022 at the headquarter of the Regional Office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Zamalek, Cairo, the liaison office’s main mission has been to consolidate and to expand academic partnerships with universities in Egypt and in the neighbouring countries. The office in Cairo serves as a key link between students, researchers and professors from the University of Cologne and partner universities and institutions in Egypt. For delegations from Cologne, the Office Head assists in organising visits to the Egyptian universities and academic institutions as well as in organising academic events. Additionally, the office in Cairo provides detailed information about possible paths for studying, conducting research and for networking in Germany and in particular in the city of Cologne.
