22. May 2014
For the ninth time, the Donors’ Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany and the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) are calling for entries for the Ars Legendi Prize for Excellence in Higher Education Teaching. This year they are looking for teachers who uniquely encourage and foster "research-based learning". The prize is endowed with € 50,000.
Researchers, who have new and sustainable ideas in the field of research-based learning and who are already using these ideas in practice, are invited to enter the competition for the 2014 Ars Legendi Prize.
The judging panel is looking for teachers with outstanding educational and teaching skills and who base the advice and help they offer to their students on the principles of research-based learning. The extent to which candidates offer inspiration to the university community beyond their own lectures and seminars and engage in disseminating the principles of research-based learning in other subjects will also be crucial.
The Ars Legendi Prize highlights the special significance of university teaching in the training of early career academics. It is intended to deliver an incentive that will benefit the careers of teachers by encouraging them to demonstrate their commitment to university teaching and to motivate them to move beyond their own sphere of action.
Entries are welcomed from now until 5 September. A judging panel will select the winner of the 2014 Ars Legendi Prize. It will be presented on 1 December 2014 in Berlin.
