From August, the Executive Board of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) will gain a new member. The General Meeting in Berlin elected Prof. Dr. Monika Gross to the Executive Board for a two-year term of office.
Gross has been President of the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin since 2011. After completing a degree in biology in Heidelberg and obtaining her doctoral degree in natural sciences, she held academic posts at the University of Heidelberg, the University of California in Irvine (USA), Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany, and the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum). She has been a member of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research's programme advisory board “Research at Universities of Applied Sciences” since April 2014, and a member of the HRK Standing Committee for Planning and Organization since March 2015.

Two Executive Board members were re-elected for a further two-year term.
Psychologist Prof. Dr. Johanna Weber, Rector of the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald, has been responsible for the area of “Medical Institutions and Health” on the HRK Executive Board since 2014.
Physicist Prof. Dr. Ulrich Rüdiger, President of the University of Konstanz, was confirmed in the office of Vice-President for Research and Young Researchers. This is his second term also.

The Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences Member Groups had previously elected new spokespersons, on 23 March and on Monday respectively, who will also take a seat on the HRK Executive Board. They are Prof. Dr. Ulrich Radtke, Rector of the University of Duisburg-Essen, and Prof. Dr. Karim Khakzar, President of Fulda University of Applied Sciences.

All terms of office commence on 1 August.

The current Vice-President for Information Infrastructures, Prof. Dr. Andreas Bertram, will step down from the Executive Board at the end of July
