The objective of the DIES-Information Visit to Germany has been to give the Iranian delegation an insight into the structure of the German higher education system with the respective profiles and emphases of the individual types of higher education institutions by visiting the three universities. In addition, the opportunity has been given to explore the potential for cooperation in direct exchange, especially in the field of research. On the other side, German universities had the chance to get to know the Iranian universities better. For the German universities of Applied Sciences, the visit to the Fulda University of Applied Sciences has been very helpful for the cooperation, especially as the Iranian University of Applied Sciences and Technology (UAST) and three other Universities of Technology with a focus on engineering were represented.

The DIES-Seminar with focus on research collaboration has been also designed as a platform for networking. For this purpose, a networking lunch has been offered.

Both, visits to a technical university, a university of applied sciences and a classical University, as well as the DIES-Seminar and the accompanying programme have been used by all participants to get to know each other personally and to exchange ideas and opportunities for deepening cooperation intensively. The participating German scientists also see a great potential in research collaboration (geosciences, pharmacy, physics, regional sciences, engineering, IT, etc.); individual projects have already been agreed upon. Various formats of implementation in the specific German-Iranian context have been presented and discussed. Overall, the Iranian as well as the German participants have rated the information journey as a very successful format and platform for the development of university relations.
