Concept

The HRK-Audit “Internationalisation of Universities” helps German universities define and develop their specific international profiles. The process involves elements of self-reflection as well as competent advice from external experts.

The Audit offers the following benefits:

  • an assessment of the university’s current state of internationality
  • the identification or definition of the university’s internationalisation goals
  • the (further) development of an institutional internationalisation strategy
  • recommendations for specific measures in defined areas of internationalisation

The Audit is carried out by a team of internationally experienced advisorsadvisors
All advisors are established experts in the field of university internationalisation ...
working with a project groupproject group
The project group has the task of implementing the audit process ...
appointed by the university. The HRK organises and oversees the entire Audit process.

The advisory process is tailored to suit the specific profile of each university. The Audit takes into account the current state of internationalisation at the university, and is focused on areas where the university has identified the greatest need. This is a highly individualised process, carefully adapted to the university’s own defined goals and existing capacity.

All information and data made available by the university for the purpose of the Audit is treated as strictly confidential. The HRK reserves the right to use the data in an anonymous and aggregated form for documentation purposes and further development of the Audit.

The Audit takes into consideration all stakeholders, structures, and processes related to internationalisation from across the university. Following an analysis of the current state of internationality, specific recommendations are developed for the further internationalisation of the university in four dimensions:

Planning & Steering

Planning & Steering focuses on the management and organisation of internationalisation from the central administration department through to the academic departments.

Study & Teaching

Study & Teaching includes the internationalisation of study programmes as well as the teaching and learning environment.

Research & Technology Transfer

Research & Technology Transfer concerns the internationalisation of research and the application of research results.

Advice & Support

Advice & Support encompasses the internationalisation of administrative structure across the institution.

Upon completion of the Audit, the university receives an electronic sealseal
At the end of the Audit and the Re-Audit process the university receives ...
of participation.
