The Study Place Exchange produces encouraging interim results

Some two weeks after the Study Place Exchange was launched, HRK President Prof. Dr. Margret Wintermantel was able today to present the first interim results to the press in Berlin:

"The interest among those looking for a study place as well as the participation by the universities are exceptionally pleasing developments. All this seems to indicate that the Study Place Exchange will prove to be a real success. It creates transparency about how many study places are still available. Just under 2,100 degree programmes with and without admissions restrictions have been entered into the system by the higher education institutions. An average of 12,500 users per day visit the website.

The higher education institutions are entering recognisable vacant capacities on a continuous basis. The number of offers has risen again, following a brief dip caused by some of the replacement candidate procedures now being closed. This means that it is really worthwhile for candidates to continue to check the site for vacant places.

The HRK will carry out a survey among the participating higher education institutions once this has been completed so that it can quantify the successes of the Study Place Exchange. The HRK thanks Federal Minister Dr. Annette Schavan for her continuous support."
