Economic Recovery Package II: Infrastructural measures for universities

Prof. Dr. Margret Wintermantel, President of the German Rectors' Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz - HRK), just stated in Berlin:

"Now that the Economic Recovery Package II has been adopted, the universities will do everything in their power to implement the redevelopment and modernisation measures as quickly as possible.

The back-log of necessary repair and redevelopment work that has accumulated over the past decades is immense. At least the investment programme will now make it possible to carry out some of the most pressing measures. While the universities will continue to observe the programme's implementation in the federal states all the more critically.

Under no circumstances must we allow the effect of the Economic Recovery Package to be reduced by cutting back federal state funds that had previously been earmarked for building measures.
